Another year, another adventure

Hello there world!

It's been a while since I've thought about blogging, but it just so happens I'm going on a mini-adventure so it's time to dust off my keyboard and try this out again!

The plan: Ithaca to Minneapolis by bicycle in 13 days, beginning tomorrow. It's a little more than 1000 miles and for various reasons I've only had one week to plan/prepare, as I take my final exams.

I'm going to be taking a more direct route than I did when I biked across the country. I'm still going to go through Canada, but when I reach Michigan I'm just going to cut through the middle and take a ferry across lake Michigan.

I'm going to have to average ~75 miles a day to get there in time (summer internship!), which is no small feat for someone who's completely out of shape. I'm relying on muscle memory and sheer determination, but if my knees give out on me I have contingency plans.

With that, I'll be setting off tomorrow afternoon, right after I finish my last final exam. This time, I won't be wearing sandals but worn-out bicycle shoes. I'll have Ortlieb panniers like the pros and all my lightweight camping gear from the Appalachian Trail. This time is different from setting off two years ago; I know what I'm getting myself into.

So with that, here's off to another adventure!
