Made it to Bismark

Sunday, June 22 (Day 37)

Distance: 52 miles
Average speed: 10.9 mph
Max: 26.3 mph
Total: 2185 miles

Weather: sunny and warm with a 10 mph headwind

Duane and I left early and I struggled to keep up right from the very beginning, watching him disappear into a speck on the horizon before he would stop and wait for me to catch up.

And we found ourselves on the Lewis and Clark trail.

We arrived in Bismark and had lunch together before parting ways, me on my way to my host for the night.

I am staying with Ron and Joyce, two wonderfully sweet and funny people who rode the Lewis and Clark trail a few years ago and have been hosting cyclists even longer.

We talked for a long time, then Ron took me to a museum with lots of Native American artifacts and fossils. It was vey interesting, and a fantastic museum.

Ron loves history, and he told me a lot about this area. Unfortunately I was having trouble keeping my eyes open because I was so sleepy and don't remember as much as I would like.

We had a delicious dinner of fried fish caught by Ron. They must've told me the name of the fish dozens of times but I can't recall!

Joyce told me she wished she could've done something like this when she was young, but times were very different then and long distance cyclists were rare and seen as eccentric.

And now I can finally allow my eyes to close!

    1. Yes it it! I like it very much. I'm going to Medora today, I've been hearing nothing but praise for it from everyone who mentions it.
